Redesign - Pony Friends Wave 1

(Spring/Summer 2009)

In 2009 Hasbro (actually they were plotting and hinting about this much sooner) decided to redesign the My Little Pony toyline. The ponies bodies were shrunk, their heads became larger, and their eyes took on a more child-like appearance. The hair styles of these ponies were also changed... and many relationships were altered a little. For instance Cheerilee is now Scootaloo's older sister.
This was done in an effort to give the ponies more personality.

From the 2009 Pamplet:

Pinkie Pie - Is everyone's best friend. She's always dreaming up fun things to do!
Cheerilee - love's reading stories to her little sister Scootaloo!
Sweetie Belle - is a sweet young unicorn who always want to play with her friends!
Rainbow Dash - It a real glamour girl. Everyone come to her for advice on fun and fashion!
Starsong - is a little bit shy, but loves to be in the spotlight when she dances and sings!
Toola-Roola - loves to have fun with arts and crafts. She's always making something new!
Scootaloo - love to play games. She especially loves playing with her big sister, Cheerilee!
