Fashion Designer Charity Ponies

Background:

In 2003-2004 the very first, known, My Little Pony charity auction was held by Barnardo's. Several British designers took typical 5 inch My Little Pony toys and created clothing or other unique items for their pony. These ponies were then auctioned on e-bay on March 20, 2004.

This charity event was not much talked about when it occurred and I only heard of it in 2008, through an e-mail message. The only information I can discover about the actual event online is this short paragraph from http://www.telegraph.co.uk/

"Several leading British designers have created new looks for My Little Pony, the five-inch, slightly freaky plastic horse. Tracey Boyd and Scott Henshall turn back the clock two decades to when MLP was just a foal; Boyd gives it Flashdance-style leg warmers while Henshall's "Sammy Jo Pony" is dedicated to Dynasty star Heather Locklear. Designer ponies will be auctioned on eBay from 9am on March 20 (all can be viewed from today). Proceeds go to Barnardo's, Britain's largest children's charity. See members.ebay.co.uk/aboutme/my_little _designer_pony/ "

The Blank Pony:

From what little I can tell, these ponies were made by using actual My Little Pony toys instead of the 'giant' ponies used for the later 'Pony Project' style charity auctions.

The Art:

Unfortunately since I hadn't heard of this event until Fizzy sent me an e-mail about it, I only have one image of the ponies. It is a small magazine article clipping image, also from Fizzy. I also am not sure how many designers were allowed to make a pony of their own or how much money these ponies made for their charity. So, if anyone has any more information about this please let me know! :)
