Background:

Following the success of the earlier 2005 Pony Project Hasbro and Thunderdog Studio decided to have a second one in 2008 to celebrate their 25th year anniversary of the My Little Pony brand. This special program was called, “The MY LITTLE PONY Project: 25 Ponies for 25 Years”.

While that Project was occurring in New York, another 'Pony Project' was occurring in the Netherlands. Special giant 18 inch pony figures were designed by Dutch celebrities, fashion designers, artists and My Little Pony fans. These ponies were then sold on Ebay to benefit WarChild, an organization that strives to give child victims of war a better life.

Translation from WarChild website:

"My Little Pony is 25 years! In honor of its anniversary My Little Pony hold a nationwide action for War Child. A number of famous Dutch artists and has its own super-sized, My Little Pony 'gepimpt' for War Child. The gepimpte ponies were to auctioned on ebay on September 15. The proceeds will go entirely to War Child!"

In addition to this, in the months of June and July at the Child Toy Festival Hive, children could purchase and customize their own blank My Little Pony toy. These toys were sold for € 4.95 and were probably just like the one sold on Hasbrotoyshop.com. It sounds like they could also color their own My Little Pony online from the contest coloring book sheet.

The Blank Pony:

This is the Blank Pony that artists were given to customize. It is 18 inches tall.
