Found in Myer stores in Australia are the new PJ Plush ponies: Minty, Pinkie Pie, Wysteria and Sweetie Belle. Apparently the first release of the Pyjama Pal Plush Ponies was: Minty, Pinkie Pie, and Wysteria. While the second wave of Pyjama Plush ponies is: Pinkie Pie, Wysteria, and Sweetie Belle. Sweetie Belle is white with purple hair. She is also the first plush unicorn!

The PJ plush ponies are about half the size of the Jumbo Plush Frilly Flocks and the second wave comes with a bonus Pyjama set.

And I have heard that the manufacturer of the giant plush ponies has also made new 4 inch keychain plush ponies. They are supposed to be slightly larger than the plush keychains from the Red Rooster restaraunt chain.

Hasbro has decided to limit the pony line to 7 core ponies. From one of there press releases these ponies will be:

Pinkie Pie (the leader)
Rainbow Dash (the glamour girl)
Scootaloo (the adventurer)
Cheerilee - former Cherry Blossom (the storyteller)
Toola-Roola - new pink pony (the artist)
Sweetie-Belle - a white unicorn (the silliest)
Star Song - a purple pegasus (the performer)

Press release info: "My Little Pony is that, for 2008, the collection of characters, which currently numbers near 300, will be brought down to “a core seven ponies,” according to company rep Shelly Eckenroth. “It’s really about the characters and the depth of those characters,” she said, noting that the strategy for the brand will see it move into products that are designed to develop the core characters in more detail"

Sounds boring to me, more reissued ponies... -.-'

Also, something I just noticed. The Hamilton Collection - Friendship And Magic My Little Pony figures no longer seem to be listed on the website. I wonder if the line has finally been canceled.

There were only two ponies ever produced in this series: Glory and Firefly... but the reviews of these figures were not the best. The odd 'real' hair, glitter sticker symbols, and awkward poses may have prevented sales of these figures from being very good. Though I was curious to see what the rumored Starbeam would look like... and the other rumored 5 ponies. It was supposed to be a collection of 8 ponies.

Bonus Teapot Palace comes with Sparkleworks and four bonus ponies: Triple Treat, Desert Rose, Rainbow Dash and Daisyjo. This set is supposed to be a wholesale exclusive and it might have been out for quite a while, but this is the first image of the set that I have seen. Thanks to PonyFan for the news and image!

New scented ponies!

avene1984 from the MLPArena sent in some images of the new scented ponies being featured on the BigBadToyStore.com.

You can now see Chocolate Chipper (Chocolate scented), Paradise Island (coconut scented), and Soda Float (root beer scented)!

I spotted the New Haloween Ponies in the Sep/Oct issue of Sparkle World Magazine!

Their names are Lovely Ladybug, who comes dressed as a ladybug, and Fun Fairy, who is dressed in a set of wings.

NEWS FROM THE MY LITTLE PONY FAIR - MEMPHIS

Well, I just got back from the Fair last night so I'm still tired. Lol! Long car ride. So I'll tell y'all the highlights now and post more pictures later.

Exclusive Pony (above) : That is the large version of the My Little Pony Fair exclusive pony. This large version was loaned to the Fair by Hasbro and is about two G3 ponies taller than a Stylin' Pony but the ponies made in her likeness are normal sized. It was these normal sized ponies that people were allowed to buy. The larger version was for display only and featured many hand painted details.

This pony has no name. She has symbols on both sides of the body, on her forehead, and on her feet. There was no foot magnet. Her legs fade from pink to white at her hooves and she has tinsel in her hair. To me, she kind of looks like a 'Pony Project' style pony. :)

OTHER PONY FAIR NEWS

Representatives from Hasbro were at the My Little Pony Fair this year and we were allowed to ask them questions. Below I'm paraphrasing the conversation with Hasbro's answers in italic.

1.) Will you reissue Spike?
No, probably not... (big moan from the crowd) but you never know...

2.) How far in advance do you plan the pony line?
Well, right now we are planning for Spring 2009 but some times it can be as short as 12 weeks if we are pressed for time. We are looking to take My Little Pony in a new direction in '09.

3.) Will there be Sea Ponies?
*nervous laugh* Um... probably...

4.) Will there be any boy ponies?
You wouldn't believe how much time we spend talking about this! This is actually a topic, along with sea ponies, that comes up 2-3 times a week in the marketing department. But, we aren't sure we want to change the nature of ponies in that way...

5.) Will there be any newborn ponies?
*thinking* Ah, maybe.

6.) New Pony Project
There will be a new Pony Project in '08 but this time there will be a a side contest for customizers. Hasbro will give a blank white pony to anyone who wants to enter. You then design and customize that pony and send it back to Hasbro where the best 25 (to coincide with MLP's 25th anniversary) will be featured in the gallery alongside the ponies done by professional artists. More details to be announced later. Some of these ponies we might even make into smaller versions that will be sold in stores.

7.) Does Hasbro like customs or does it break copyright laws?
Some works do cross the line but the majority of the custom works done are really inventive and give only positive results.

8.) Would Hasbro ever consider releasing blank ponies for customizers? Would you sell pony hair online?
We might release blank ponies. (talks about the new Pony Project) It might also be nice if we released a set of ponies online, that would just be blank white ponies in different poses, so that customizers could use them. She also thought selling pony hair online was a good idea.

9.) Will there be any more Retro ponies released?
We do have one more set that we are going to sell in the Fall, the Rainbow Ponies! (deafening audience applause) After them we might do a "best of MLP" with the top 25 ponies of all time reissued... for the 25th anniversary. :)

10.) Why have the shelves at Walmart and Target been so empty?
It has been such a good year for the My Little Pony line, maybe the stores didn't order enough products and they sold out much faster than anticipated.

11.) There was talk a long time ago about a feature length My Little Pony movie coming to theaters, are you still going to do that?
We want to, but right now we are just going to play the DVD released shows in select theaters.

12.) Will My Little Pony have another cartoon series?
This is some thing we have talked about, maybe in the future... right now we are just going to focus on releasing more DVDs.

13.) Will the focus of the My Little Pony line change? To include collectors and older kids?
No, we will still be targeting the 2-6 year age range and we will try to do this by focusing on 7 My Little Pony characters. We have found that children can't remember all of the pony names so we want to narrow the focus to better develop a few characters that they could remember. I know this might not sound exciting to collectors... but we might try marketing to mothers as well. I know not all of you are mothers, but ... (explains the possible release of Pony Project ponies to stores)

14.) How about a Design a Pony contest where the winning pony is made and released to stores?
Oh! Thats a good idea! You are all so full of good ideas!

15.) Will you bring the Pony Points Program back?
There are currently no plans to bring the Points Program back. It was a wildly successful program but it is so expensive to do. And it didn't really target our age group. The point was the get young kids involved but the program was more popular with collectors.

16.) Will you ever release any different colored ponies? Any green ones?
No, we are going to stick with the 'pony palette'.

17.) I really liked the Birthflower and Birthstone pony sets, would you ever release another pone set like that? Maybe international ponies?
That is a good idea, and there are so many countries to choose from...

18.) Will you ever sell any giant Plush ponies in the US?
No. It just costs too much to ship them here from China. The shipping costs are nearly the same as the cost of the pony.

19.) Will there be any Halloween ponies this year?
Yes, there will be. But, no Halloween Ponyville sets will be offered.

20.) Does anyone from Hasbro read message board sites like the MLPArena and the Trading Post?
Yes, they do. I have one girl I know she has a screen name... but she wouldn't like for me to reveal her.

The Hasbro Reps also promised more Hasbro participation in next year's Pony Fair!

Doesn't the tiny white Bumper car pony look like she has a unicorn horn? Hard to tell from the image though... maybe I'm seeing things. :)

Pony Party with Pinkie Pie

I have been directed to the online toy sale catalog of the Australian Target stores by MistyMane. Apparently Australian Target stores will be having a large toy sale from Thursday, July 19 to Sunday, July 29. But the big news is what they will be selling, listed on page 30!

A new Target exclusive four pack with Star Catcher, Rarity, Windy Wisp, and an unknown pink pony... it also contains four DVDs. No idea if this is an Australian exclusive or not.
